"FORMER SYNAGOGUE" GALLERY is the 18th century building of the municipal synagogue that was rebuilt at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. During the Nazi occupation it was ravaged and became part of the enclosed ghetto. In 1971 it was handed over to the Nowy Sącz Museum. After the capital overhaul and the adaptation for exhibition purposes, the synagogue was opened to visitors in 1982. The permanent exhibition in the synagogue’s vestibule is devoted to the Jews of Sącz, while the main prayer chamber hosts temporary exhibitions on history, arts and culture.
